Open for business: State healthcare exchanges now enrolling

Starting today, millions of American families have a new resource for affordable healthcare coverage.  Across the nation, states are turning on the cyber “open” sign for their online healthcare exchanges.

In Washington, the new healthcare exchange means nearly one million uninsured residents can now access affordable healthcare coverage.

Curious about how Obamacare will impact you and your family? Check out this great calculator on Washington Health Benefit Exchange’s website and start shopping around for the best-fit plan for you on their Healthplanfinder.
Some key facts:

  • A family of 4 making less than $32,500 qualifies for free health coverage
  • A family of 4 making up to $40,000 can qualify for an estimated $985 of health care subsidies in the form of tax credits each month
  • A family of 4 making up to $90,000 can qualify for an estimated $436 of subsidies each month also in the form of tax credits

Coverage begins on January 1st, 2014. If you want to learn more about the exchange you can read Tatsuko Go Hollo’s earlier post about the Affordable Health Care Act.  Or check out this straightforward video and website with more in-depth details.

Remember to enroll by December 15th in order for your coverage to take effect by January 1st.
