Kathleen Barry, Development Director, EOI

After several months of searching for just the right person, the Economic Opportunity Institute is happy and proud to welcome the newest member of our staff team: Kathleen Barry, Development Director.

Kathleen is a nonprofit fundraising and development pro with 10+ years of experience under her belt and a track record to match, having raised more than $10 million to support charitable organizations and programs dedicated to helping people living and working the Puget Sound region.

Born and raised in suburban Chicago, Kathleen moved to Seattle to attend graduate school. She holds a BA from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, a JD from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and an LLM from the University of Washington.

Kathleen practiced law, focusing on criminal appellate defense, before focusing her energy on efforts to help prevent people from becoming part of the criminal justice system in the first place. She has since worked to raise support for and build the capacity of programs that help children with disabilities, homeless teens, families and veterans, and people living in poverty.

Kathleen joined EOI to “really get to the root of the issue, to ensure that our economy offers opportunities for everyone, so that we can all live with dignity.”

Please give Kathleen a warm welcome next time you see her!
