As the state legislature struggles to reach agreement on a revised plan to avoid unconscionable cuts to the very public structures on which thousands of workers and families rely, and our economy needs to grow, they could do worse than to take a second look at some of the options killed by corporate lobbyists early in the session.
This brief, “Exemptions to Ax – Sins to Tax” details some of those options — and if our legislative leaders decided to resurrect some of them, we could actually close the gap and cut the sales tax by 0.3% rather than raising it.
